I found a used Eskofot 245 FPP plate burner. Eskofot looks out of busisness now, but it was a Danish firm that produced pre-press equipment. The eskofot is very well build and is working fine, but I have some trouble to find out how to program the exposure (in units). It defaults all the time to 160 units which is about 1.30 minutes. Maybe there is a battery somewhere that should feed memory that is worn out, or I simply don’t know how to push the buttons the right way.
Does anybody know this plateburner and how to program it?
Or, even better, who has a manual for it?
Update: It’s not the memory! I found out that by pushing a number button folowed by the P button other programmed values are available. So I have more values available. But I have not found how to change these values. Other functions seem to work. With the exposure +% and -% buttons, followed by the P button I can expose longer or shorter, to a maximum of 100% extra. But the same trick doen’t work for the two avalable vacuum settings and the exposure time or unit programming. Also the unit has 8(!) 150 and 250 watt bulbs for contact copying film beside the metal halide UV lamp. It’s impossible to turn these on. I checked each lamp – all are ok. But the lamp select button does not work.
Anybody?
Update 2: Finally, due to a strange coïncidence I found someone who also owns an Eskofot 245FPP! And he also has the original manuals (english and dutch). Today I received a full set of photocopies (thanks Pieter!) and from now I know my Eskofot is functioning completely normal and is still fully programmable. The secret door to the programming mode opens when entering “-” and “P” at the display. I now can fully program all functions, like using a diffuser (not so useful), setting vacuum at 50% (very useful) and all other hidden treasures. Even the tungsten bullbs will light!
I scanned the photocopied manuals (en & nl) and here they are:

How did you get on with this? I just bought one on ebay and would love to know how the keypad works.
Thanks

Hi Stewart,
I still can’t change the unit settings. To work around this I’m using the basic setting of 160 units that is more or less stuck and change the dmin setting that still functions. When I set a dmin of (log) 0.30 and click P to save it just doubles the 160 unit to 320 etc. I need to do some calculations to get where I want to be, but it works. If your unit functions normally it should be possible to directly program units (or anything) by clicking on the units button, dial in the value and click on P to program/save.

Thank. I“ll give it a try. It must be possible to get a manual from somewhere.

Programming mode can be accessed by typing “-” “P” (dash-button folowed by P button).

Hi,
thanks for sharing the manual.
I’m trying to help a friend, who owns a 263 which does not seem to start.
Would you by chance have a service manual ?
I could make my way through it, but at the moment I’m stuck due to lack of information.

Hi,
I only have the 245FPP manual but I think the programming of the 245 U will be similar.

Beste Kees
Ik heb sinds kort ook een Eskofot 245U plaatmaker.
Heb je een handleiding daarvan? Dan zou ik die graag ontvangen.
